In this edition, I'm coming back to one of my passions: film, to keep digging into analogies about leadership. PART ONE

Mr. White: The Team's Protector

Film gives us characters who, beyond what they actually do, teach us big lessons about leadership. Today we kick off this series with Reservoir Dogs, a Quentin Tarantino classic, and a character who, controversial as he is, leaves us valuable reflections on what it really means to lead a team: Mr. White.

From the very first moment, Mr. White makes one thing clear: his team is his priority, even if that means putting his own life on the line. That iron-clad loyalty is exactly what turns him into a leadership figure, someone the others can trust no matter what. As a CEO, loyalty to your team doesn't just create a safe working environment, it builds an unshakable foundation of trust. Because at the end of the day, what's a leader without a team?

Loyalty: The Pillar of Leadership At a critical moment in the film, Mr. White makes a key decision: he protects one of his own, even when the truth points the other way. That move, risky as it is, drives home the idea that loyalty is a fundamental value in any kind of leadership. In a company, loyalty shows up in how you protect your team and how you give them an environment where they can trust you without reservation.

Decision-Making Under Pressure The ability to stay calm in critical situations is what separates great leaders from the rest. Despite the chaos, Mr. White acts with cool heads and decisiveness when it matters most. In the business world, speed and clarity in decision-making are essential. As a CEO, you'll face decisions that can't wait, where time and pressure are the enemy. Drawing on this skill of Mr. White's can make all the difference in the moments that count.

Putting it into practice:

But not everything is what it seems... As we move through the story of Reservoir Dogs, we start to realize that Mr. White's loyalty has a limit... a breaking point that will push him to question his own judgment. What happens when you trust your team blindly and that trust is betrayed?

In the next edition, we'll explore how Mr. White's adaptability in the face of the unexpected can teach us a lesson about leading in times of crisis. Because at the end of the day, as a CEO, change is the only thing you can count on.
